bullet Approach at a broad angle.
bullet Weather helm to hold the bow upwind.
bullet Head for the stern of the berth.
bullet Engine reversed when vessel's bow near stern of the berth (2).
bullet The swing created and lee drift increased.
bullet Head lines with messenger passed when bow is close in.
bullet A stern line is also passed when stern is close to berth.
bullet Lines are hove-in when the vessel is parallel to berth.
bullet An offshore anchor may be used. It is let go when the ship has bodily drifted from the berth (3).
