Electric Avenue updates

The Electric Avenue - Arrowhead Line website is a continuous work in progress! With the generous donations of very rare photographs, and the help of local historians, this site is now quite possibly the most most in-depth study of the Pacific Electric Arrowhead Hot Springs Line to be found anywhere!   I hope to also research more about the local history of north San Bernardino, which is relatively little known. Improvements and updates will be made to the website as time allows and more historic pictures and information is found. Please visit often and check this page for updates to watch for!

Latest website updates:

September 30, 2007:   New picture added! Photo of Pacific Electric Railway locomotive 1650 with the water train on Mountain View Avenue.   This was just south of 30th Street in about 1949.   The picture was taken by Jack Whitmeyer.

September 24, 2007:   I have finally upgraded to a paid hosting service!   So, no more ads!   I also have more storage space and a much higher bandwidth limit, so hopefully there won't be any more problems with the site being temporarily disabled. The Arrowhead Line (Electric Avenue) page gets a lot of visitors, and has become an important resource for people to learn about local history.   I am paying for this out-of-pocket with my own money, no funds whatsoever are used from the Community Redevelopment Alliance or Wildwood Park NCA.

April 19, 2007:   New pictures added!   Several new pictures have been added, courtesy of Bret Lorenz.   His grandparents built a home on Electric Avenue in 1929, where his father was raised.   Bret shared several family photos which captured early views of Electric Avenue during the 1930s and '40s, and give a glimpse into what life was like at the time.   These pictures were scanned and have now been uploaded to the site.

December 9, 2005:   New picture added: Artwork by Florence Nesbit of the water train on Mountain View Avenue, circa 1956.

July 24, 2005:   New pictures added: Pictures from the last run of the water train - Mountain View Avenue and near the Arrowhead Springs terminus. September, 1960.

July 18, 2005:   New pictures added: Pacific Electric car 101 at Mountain View Avenue and 30th Street, 1937.   North end of Electric Avenue, 1955.

July 17, 2005:   Some editing to the main page. New pictures added: Water train in Waterman Canyon, 1946.   Electric Avenue and Mountain View Avenue, 1955.
